I have had the good fortune of knowing some kick ass women who have inspired me along the way.

Cindy Curtis - you were the first choice-mom that I ever knew personally. You took on the role of single mom to your baby with such grace. I would see you on mornings walking about town with your tiny baby wrapped in a long scarf knotted around your waist and neck. You made motherhood look so peaceful and natural. You gave me such keen insight into the challenges that I would face, but more so, the rewards that I will enjoy as a single mom. I am certain that I wouldn’t have chosen to have a baby on my own if I did not know you. I will be forever thankful to you for your guidance.

Kelly Marshall - Do you recognize the photo on my “About” page? You took that photo years ago when you approached me to write about my experience as a single mom for the Newburyport Mother’s Group. I was surprised that anyone would be interested in my story and my experience. After the article ran, several women have stopped me to tell me that the story inspired and moved them. And that is when the idea of writing a book or a blog about my experience as a single mom was born. Thank you for bringing this project to the surface.

Michelle Lopilato - It’s all in the name. I can’t thank you enough for your brilliance in coining the title “Raising Mommy” about my relationship with my daughter. It was the title that inspired me to start this blog - I wanted to get my version of the family dynamics on record before Sawyer grows up to write her version.
